Happy Shark Week

In honor of the start of  Shark Week on Discovery Channel I am sharing the watermelon shark my creative genius bestie Momma Gee whipped up for her son's 11th birthday.  Her son specifically directed that he did not want a cake but wanted a watermelon fruit basket like his momma had made for a family party.  Because of Pinterest  I knew we could do better than an ole basket. The best part was the blue jello jiggler waves & Swedish fish candy garnish. The hook & sinkers were found on a beach walk & were the perfect finishing touch.  Click here for more watermelon carving ideas.

    This is cool! I have wanted to do something like this, but haven't had any little kids around to request it, lol. It would be great for any party, or bbq. I also love Shark Week, and haven't missed it for several years.

    when I heard somewhere that it was Sharks Week, I knew I had to jump over here to see what you were up to.....knew I'd get a chuckle! Not to be disappointed........that shark watermelon is HILARIOUS!!! I must do that for my granddaughter!!! Can't believe I don't see some of your black sharks teeth stuck in there in its mouth!!!

Shell pile @ the North Jetty in Nokomis, Florida Has anyone been following  i Love Shelling blog?  Pam has been giving us the blow-by-blow of all the shells rolling in on Turner Beach a.k.a. You might have noticed the new button I added on the sidebar promoting Shellabration 2012 happening on Sanibel Island February 26 - March 4.  The height of the Sanibel social shelling season is the Sanibel Shell Show & Fair which will be held March 1st - 3rd this year.  The Shellabration is week long celebration of all things invertebrate & mollusky. There will be special events from one end of the island to the other.  But one special event is seeking to immortalize the iconic stance of bending over on the beach to inspect the shells more closely and pick them up - THE SANIBEL STOOP. On February 17  at 10 am on Bowman's Beach will be the gathering place for 208 plus shellabrators looking to set a Guinness Book of World Records for the most people doing the Sanibel Stoop in one place at one t
