Too Blessed To Be Stressed

Buttprints in the Sand

One night I had a wondrous dream,
One set of footprints there was seen,
The footprints of my precious Lord,
But mine were not along the shore.
But then some strange prints appeared,
And I asked the Lord, "What have we here?"
Those prints are large and round and neat,
"But Lord, they are too big for feet."
"My child," He said in somber tones,
"For miles I carried you along.
I challenged you to walk in faith,
But you refused and made me wait."
"You disobeyed, you would not grow,
The walk of faith, you would not know,
So I got tired, I got fed up,
And there I dropped you on your butt."
"Because in life, there comes a time,
When one must fight, and one must climb,
When one must rise and take a stand,
Or leave their butt prints in the sand."

It's just been one of those weeks. Lots of drama at work & lots of stuff to do at home. My mantra is "I'm too blessed to be stressed", well that went out the window today.

Alot of times going to the beach is my quiet time to just get my head together. Today I ran out for just an hour to chill out a bit. The sky was beautiful, the water is no longer like a hot tub and is so clear & refreshing, & still lots of that shell crush everywhere just full of shark's teeth.

So as I was sitting in the shell crush scooting along on my behind looking for  shark's teeth this little poem came in to my thoughts. I read it a few years back and got a good laugh out of it. I have never been a Hallmark sentiments-kinda-girl. BTDT- got a whole drawer full of t-shirts.  I like to keep it real. Funny how a good laugh puts everything into perspective.

Guilty...those buttprints are all mine.

The key is keeping our hearts and our hands open

  1. Oh, my twins would love to find a few of those shark teeth! I've never read that version of this poem but it sure made me smile. I hope the drama at work dies down. I like the "too blessed to stress" mantra, that's wonderful!
    Blessings,

  3. I love that poem! Your wedding gift is wonderful, I am sure they will treasure it. I especially liked the crafty story that goes with it. Something funny happened as I was scolling down, saw your Mother's picture, then thought to myself, "Awe what a beautiful, sweet mother she has." Then I read what you had written beneath it. (You must be mistaken!) That was my first laugh of the day. Thanks. :)

"I did not want to live out my life in the strenuous effort to hold a ghost world together. It was plain as the stars that time herself moved in grand tidal sweeps rather than the tick-tocks we suffocate within, and that I must reshape myself to fully inhabit the earth rather than dawdle in the sump of my foibles." — Jim Harrison (Julip)
